Producers are facing difficult times as agricultural input costs rise

Rising agricultural input costs are facing difficult times for producers. Along with all other items, pesticide and fertilizer costs are reducing profit margins. We spoke with Agricultural Engineer Mehmet Barut about the pesticide and fertilizer costs of Mersin producers. The rise in agricultural input costs in Turkey in recent years has become a major concern for farmers. Farmers who cannot profit from their crops, which they work hard for throughout the year, can face losses. The basic inputs used in agricultural production include fertilizer, diesel fuel, seeds, pesticides, and irrigation. Labor costs, coupled with the increasing demand for raw materials, are making difficult times inevitable for producers.
